Learn how to maintain  a mechanical  domestic lockstitch sewing machine  and an overlocker from the comfort of your own home, factory, workshop studio, school or college. No prior knowledge necessary.

Please note , this is not the same  as the 5 day intense attendance course

This  e-course is for learning how to correctly service, troubleshoot, maintain and repair a front load and top load lockstitch mechanical sewing machine. It is not suitable for electronics or computer machines.

To undertake the overlocker course you must have an overlocker in full working order 3 thread or 4 thread versions are covered in this course.

To do this front load  and top load e-course you require to have the use of a mechanical front load bobbin  and top load bobbin machine which has straight stitch, zig-zag and at least 4 other sewing patterns with easy access to the moving parts for enabling you to make adjustments to the machines. The older machines are often the easiest to be able to remove the covers but if you have any doubts  just tell us what make and model you may be using for your course and we will give you our best advice. Any suitable machine you use on the course must be in good working order BEFORE you start the course. You will need to send your instructor a picture of the various stitches you have done on the machine  so he/she can  put that in your digital folder for future referencing.

The training course can be downloaded  from a link sent to your purchase email  inbox on to your desktop, laptop to enable it to be used offline.

The files re in secure  pdf format so cannot be overwritten.

There is a 6 month  time limit on how long you may take to do the course, but we suggest if you can allocate 1 hour a day to study then each course you undertake should take you no more than 30 hours from start to the end of your exams. This time may be extended  on special request, we reserve the right to refuse your request.

Artizan Training will award you with a Level 1 2 3 & 4 certificate if you pass your skills tests.
There is one exam at the end of each of the 4 levels of lockstitch and levels 1 and 2 for the overlocker

If you fail any one or more of the exams  you will be asked to  cover specific areas of the course  you failed on to gain maximum marks.

Exams are marked by Independent examiners who usually get your results back to your instructor within 7 working days but on occasions it may take a little longer.

You will be able to work on your machines with email support from  one of our training instructors who will have a wealth of experience.

If you have questions such as I can’t find how to do that setting , you can email your dedicated instructor who will assist you via email . We do not make or take phone calls, but we sometimes run short  webinars for the more complex  settings

Support via email will be on a basis of response within 3 working days Monday to Friday between the hours of 09.00 and 18.00 GMT. On exceptionally busy times it may take a little longer to answer you.

For your  3/4 thread overlocker(serger) it must be in working order prior to working on the machine

  1. Joan Austin

During the past couple of months I successfully completed Mec Levels 1 2 3 & 4 FL & TL E-Learning Sewing Machine Repair Courses Through Artizan.

My e-mail support instructor was obviously very experienced & knowledgable. He was prompt and concise, tough and patient, and brought me to the other side of several hurdles I faced.

I thoroughly enjoyed the well designed course, even the tests, and look forward to one more I’ll complete in the months to come.

In late July I launched my own sewing machine repair business in Ontario, Canada

I’m so pleased and content and in my element!
    Thanks to Artizan Training
