The sewing machine industry is crying out for skilled mechanicsand technicians to service, maintain and repair both industrial and domestic sewing machines. Training to become a professional sewing machine mechanic is still a viable direction to take in 2021!
With around 100 million sewing machines in circulation, they will one day need repairing. This is a very exciting career path, laden with opportunities and a much needed skill.
So what is a Professional Sewing Machine Mechanic?
Sewing machine mechanics are a repair specialist who work with indsutrial or home sewing machines as well as embroidery machines, sergers and other speciality sewing machines. Mechanics often find work in manufacturing, retail, fashion and textiles.
Most mechanics own their own sewing machine repair businesses or have been lucky enough to be sent on a sewing machine repair training course by their employer. Not only does this help close the skills shortage in the industry but it helps keep costs if there are trained professionals in house. It’s something we’re seeing a lot of at Artizan Training.
How can I train to become a professional sewing machine mechanic?
Well, you’ve come to the right place. Here at Artizan Training in the UK we have a broad range of courses for both domestic and industrial machines, covering all major brands and varying levels of intensity. We have over 50 years in the business and really want to share our knowledge to keep this vital skill alive.
Post pandemic we’ve been cautiously adding training courses to our events page We’re confident that they will all go ahead but have had to limit the capacity (for now) to two attendees.
Most mechanics will have to present certificates of the sewing machines they’re able to fix and by completing any of our courses, you’ll be awarded with a certificate for your new found skills.
